Resolve to Change for the Better

It’s that time of year… last year’s milestones and achievements are being remembered, new year’s resolutions are in place and new goals are being formulated.

How are you and your family going to change for the better in 2019? Some really easy ideas are to eat healthy together and get out and be active as a family!

How can you do this? Plan at least one family meal a week where everyone gets to participate! Have your kids help make a big salad to go with the pizza you order or get everyone to make a favorite side dish (hopefully full of vegetables) to go with everyone’s favorite burgers! The idea is to get your family excited to “cook something” and spend time together! We are all so busy these days but making time to teach good eating habits and getting your kids to be a little self-sufficient in the kitchen is always a good idea! As a bonus, conversation while you are doing activities tends to be more meaningful… and you can’t check your smart phone and chop vegetables at the same time.

Speaking of activities, this is the best time of year to go for a hike in the Coachella Valley. Pick a trail, there are lots, and get your family out! Even a short hike can really create an opportunity to be together as a family and talk about all the things there’s never time to talk about! Creating the habit of physical activity is always healthy and will benefit every member of the family. There are many trails that are dog-friendly so don’t forget to bring along the furry family members too!
