Still looking for summer activities in the desert? Or maybe you don’t want a long camp commitment. Here are a few locally engaging opportunities.

Camps in retail settings:

Apple Camp is a free camp offered by The Apple Store each summer that allows kids ages 8-12 to use Apple products to teach things like creating music, coding and making movies while allowing them to express their creativity.  The classes are an hour long and are over a three-day period and you can find out more and sign up by going to www.apple.com/today/camp.

Through August 9th, Westfield Palm Desert offers Camp Westfield daily from noon to 2:00 p.m. where you can either drop off your kids for a $10 donation or stay and play with them for a $5 donation.  Kids will participate in a variety of fun activities with Westfield’s YMCA partners such as Lego and fort building, slime stations, and other crafts and fun.

Develop your child’s skills:

Cooking with Class summer camp in La Quinta in partnership with Palm Springs Life, teaches culinary basics to kids aged 7-12 with themed camps offered through summer.  The four-day camp is from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. each day and is $250 per camper which includes a snack and full lunch daily, a personalized apron, recipes to take home and an intimate class size to facilitate learning.  Find out more at www.palmspringslife.com/events.
