Where is the Nearest Air Conditioning?

Summertime is here! For many families that means summer camps. As a mama of girls our summer camps are less row boats and campfires and more tiaras and leotards, which sits just fine with me. We have the friends that are gearing up for horse camp and science camp and zoo camp and I think I’m just a little too “Beverly Hills Troop” to get on board with all of them. Two summers ago, I signed my girls up for some week-long “camps” that were a few hours a day every day that week. Of course, the first time I dropped them off I had this feeling of “what do I do NOW?! I have to make this count!” Then I realized that I just made a commitment to haul them back and forth in the middle of the SUMMER day for 2 weeks and have to entertain myself for those hours nearby (in air conditioning) so that I could get back to pick them up on time. I would have loved to have filled my days with massages, pedicures and shopping sprees at Target but, alas, I married my husband for his looks and not his bank account so that dream was short-lived. By the end of the week I think the lovely people of Barnes & Noble were going to take up a collection just so I wouldn’t sit another day in their café reading any more magazines for free. After those weeks were up, as much as my girls enjoyed them, I realized that living where we do (on the SUN!) that I much more prefer not having to leave the house unless it is medically necessary or involves a drink with a little umbrella placed in it near a cool body of water.
